A thrilling wartime memoir. Grady was 14 in 1939, and lived with his French mother, who was going blind, and his English father, who tended war graves, in Northern France. He and his friend Marcel collected souvenirs from crashed German planes, before being arrested and threatened with execution. Released when he was 16, he went on to join the French resistance, and was awarded the Croix de Guerre and the American Medal of Freedom.
