Paperback edition of this second novel from Sadie Jones, following the success of her debut, "The Outcast", winner of the Costa First Novel award, and shortlisted for the Orange Prize. It is a portrait of a man and his marriage, set during the Cyprus Emergency and explores what happens when everything he believes in, army, country, marriage, begins to crumble. 'Sadie Jones pulls no punches in her description of the savagely unsophisticated island war. An exceptional book that shudders with the weight of human responsibility' "Good Housekeeping"
